Christine and her dog Jade
Christine says: "Nope, Jade isn't a GSP, but she is a Rescue.  I adopted Jade in Feb., 2004.  After finding her, I searched for a local Rescue Group to join because I was disappointed with most of Shelters I visited...and because there were just so many dogs losing the battle, waiting for a forever home without anyone helping them with their search.  I found ISR and have been a Volunteer ever since.  When you come to an ISR event, you may see an odd looking GSP...Come say Hello, it's only Jade...she doesn't know she's "different" and she LOVES visiting with her adopted friends."

Meet our volunteers
Every GSP we've rescued owes his or her life to our amazing volunteers who foster, transport, do home visits, fundraise, and otherwise donate their time, energy and talents to ISR.

Here are some of them:
Kim, Greg and their pack
Kim F. is ISR's president and driving force. Kim founded Illinois Shorthair Rescue in 2005 and has saved hundreds of GSPs since then. She and her husband Greg foster a great many of our orphans. In addition, she oversees vet care and is involved in transports, home visits, event planning, fundraising, meet and greets...in short, every single aspect of our organization.
Jo Ann and Chief
Jo Ann is ISR's vice president. She works to bring Shorthairs in peril into rescue, processes applications and oversees home visits. In addition, she fosters, does home visits, works on fundraisers and events, and has been very involved in the new website.
Kathleen K.
Kathleen and her husband, Bob, foster a great many of our dogs. She helps with events, fundraising, and home visits, and makes a mean lemon bar. Kathleen and Bob assist with our website.

Bob K.
Bob is often the Ringmaster of our major events including the ISR Reunion and others. Bob also does home visits, and if that weren't enough, he and his wife Kathleen foster nearly continuously unless they are scuba diving somewhere warm.

Jessica and Pepper
Jessica and Pepper, who's an ISR Rescue, are city folk. Jessica has really helped us with home visits, fundraising, transporting and fostering as is also our Director-at-Large. What's more, she also maintains our FaceBook page.
Cathie S.
Cathie's expertise as a dog trainer is recognized throughout the Midwest. She has helped many ISR dogs prepare for their forever home. She is the owner of BC dog training and has shared her facility with ISR countless times. er training experience spans over 30 years.
Karli and Pearle
Karli, our ISR Secretary, her husband Tod and her ISR Rescue, Pearl, are quite a team! They've done home visits, transported, worked on fundraisers, and done temporary fostering. Karli and her mom's dog treats, AKA, Pearl's Bakery, are quite a hit at ISR events.

Laurie, Scott, and Marshall
Laurie and Scott have been quite active in helping many of our fosters over the past year. In addition to providing a quiet place to stay for some of our less fortunate GSP's during heartworm treatment, they also help in home visits and transport. Their GSP Marshall loves to welcome them as well.
Megan D.'s Clan
Megan is one of our newest volunteers.  She is eager to help with home visits and transports and wants to work on the new website as well.  Megan and her family adopted Patches from ISR.
Sue B.'s Tess
Sue's been a valued volunteer for quite some time.  She's another member of the 'Eastern (i.e., Indiana) Branch' of ISR.  She fosters, transports and does home visits.  Her beloved Tess is at the Bridge now, but Sue was her devoted companion for many years.  Sue recently adopted Maggie, another ISR rescue.
Jen & Shawn M. & Co.
Yes, we've even got volunteers in Kentucky!  Jen and Shawn have helped tremendously when there's a GSP in peril in KY and we need a transport.  Thanks so much!
John B.'s Sniper
John B. is a home visit wizard, even snapping photos of the home.  When there's a tricky home visit to accomplish, we know we can count on him!  In addition, he's a great help at our various events, donating items and his time.
Katie N. and Charli
Katie is our newest volunteer, but she's jumped right in, giving needed transport help. She already has several home visits under her belt.  Thanks, Katie!
Lisa J's Irma Jean
Lisa caught Irma Jean in a rare instance of rest!  Lisa stays busy helping us with home visits and events and also providing a great CD mix of our favorite dog songs!
Karen F.
Karen has adopted two ISR rescues, Sage and Elle. She helps with everything from home visits to transporting, events, publications, and the website.
Judy, Frank and Family
Judy, Frank, and their family (including GSP Chip) recently adopted Maya and have jumped right into volunteering, helping with transporting, home visits., ad fostering. Judy is also our ISR Treasurer.
Kevin, Blaize and Zander
Kevin is the proud owner of three GSPs-- two shown here.  None is a rescue, but Kevin, who also teaches obedience classes and hunts, helps us with fostering, home visits, and events.
Christine
Christine says, "Nope, Jade isn't a GSP, but she is a Rescue. I adopted Jade in Feb 2004. Soon after,  I found ISR and have been a Volunteer ever since. When you come to an ISR Event, you may see an odd looking GSP. Come say Hello, its only Jade... she doesn't know she's "different" and she LOVES visiting with her adopted friends."

Bridget, Hoag and Heidi
Bridget became a "failed foster" after fostering Hoag. She currently is helping to keep the ISR website updated and is always looking for news on our adopted GSP's. Send us an email to update us on what your GSP is doing along with any pictures you would like to share.
Karen W. and Milo
Karen's part of the 'eastern' branch of ISR, helping us with home visits in Indiana. Karen's friend was fostering Milo (then Frenzo); Karen met him, became attached, and adopted him.
Cindi J., Elly, and Lincoln
Cindi has adopted two of ISR's Rescues. She serves as our secretary and helps organize various events. You will also find Cindi helping with home visits, transporting, fostering, and working at all of our events, not to mention serving as our "Festivus" Elf.
Monica K.
Monica is another member of our 'eastern' branch of Illinois Shorthair Rescue, located in Indiana. She has fostered, helped with home visits, and also transports some of our dogs who come from farther away.

Mark, Dijon, and their GSP, Wren
Mark and Dijon comprise the "Champaign branch" of ISR. They designed and compiled our foster manual, have transported, done home visits, and fostered for us. Mark and Dijon will be welcoming a new little "ISR volunteer" in the fall of 2011.
