We had a special donor at Festivus 2011. Ella didn't ask for birthday presents this year. Instead she asked for money to help the GSP's in our rescue and presented us the $72 at Festivus! ISR and our Shorthairs thank Ella so much for her generosity.

 

This year's highlights were:

• Blessing of the Animals conducted by Chaplain Allen
• Nail Trimming

• Chili Cook-Off - Emma wins 1st Place and Kathleen, 2nd Place
• Doggie Dance Off - Nathan and Tyler, winners
• Vendors that made a significant contribution to ISR included: Yuppy Puppy, Happy Paws Dog Bakery, Avon, PartyLite

Thanks to all that brought wonderful raffle items and last but not least, all the volunteers that made this event one of the best ever!!!  A special thank you to our Event Coordinator, Courtney Merriss.

Thanks to the brainstorming of the members of a Facebook group called "German Shorthair Pointers", a calendar photo contest was born. Illinois Shorthair Rescue was one of two GSP rescues chosen nationwide to receive proceeds from the sale of the calendars. For each calendar sold, ISR will receive $2.50. The calendar is jamb packed with wonderful photos of GSPs, the breed we love so much. Everyone needs a 2012 calendar (for themselves or for gifts), and this is a great way to support our rescue. Ned Brown Meadow/Busse Forest Preserve, Schaumburg/Rolling Meadows IL The annual ISR reunion is our favorite event of the year!  There's nothing like seeing dozens and dozens of our adopted dogs and their people together in one place! Reunion is a day filled with food and fun, along with doggy games, demonstrations, awesome raffle prizes, ISR merchandise, gifts, farmers market, bake sale and much more.  Each year, we hope more and more of our adopted GSPs will attend.  We had over 50 dogs and 100 humans at the 2011 ISR Reunion.
